How to filter ghost objects in an image?

Hi all,
I'm conducting an experiment where I film using a high-speed camera and an optical setup with mirrors and a beam splitter. Due to secondary refractions, I'm getting unwanted "ghosts" in the image I would like to remove (marked green in the attached image), without contaminating the "primary" objects in the original image.
I have attached the image in .fig format if you want to run some code.
Thank you.
