Hello, I just wondered whether it was bad to do a Matlab update without charging my computer. The update went well, but does it matter whether the computer is charging while loading it? Best wishes, Joshua

Is it a bad thing? Only in the sense that if your computer suddenly dies in the middle, the software may now be in a spot where it cannot pick up where it left off. Essentially, your copy of MATLAB could now be currupted. This is the case in any such update, for any software. You don't want the battery to cut out midway.
So is it a problem if the computer is charging while doing the update? No. That would be a good thing, as it would insure your computer does not die in the process.

If it finished the update, then you were absolutely ok. My policy is anytime I have any update on any laptop, just set it to be charging during the update. Never had a problem.

When I do Windows security updates, I get advice to not unplug my computer. I am under the impression this is do avoid the computer discharges, the update is unintentionally interrupted and that can cause troubles.
I suppose an interrupted MATLAB Update has the same risk. Did you get a warning message prior updating? If yes, the warning may be enhanced by MathWorks developers to provide a reason.

Thank you for your answer. I did not get a warning prior to updating.
