MATLAB implementation of focus stacking techniques?

I have a stack of photos of a small still object (macro photography), taken from known camera positions with a StackShot macro rail. The images can be adjusted with respect to lateral displacement using a calibration target. How can I use MATLAB to fuse these images to an image with extended depth of focus (by deconvolution, sharpness-based stitching ...)?
