The given equation

can be rewritten in this familiar line equation form

You can substitute any real value into x and find y
If there is another curve that intersects with the line, then you can find a unique solution.
If there are two intersections, then there are two solutions.
x = -4:0.1:4;
y = 3*x + 4;
plot(x, y), grid on
xlabel('x'), ylabel('y')
