Deploying Matlab Compiler SDK Compiled Application files from Python (without Matlab installed locally)

My goal here is to avoid licensing issues on the deployment computer and to create a Python GUI/frontend by virtue of the Matlab Compiler SDK "Application Compiler" app.
I'd like to package up some of my Matlab scripts/functions using the Compiler SDK license on my development computer, then deploy these to a computer (which will not have Matlab installed), and then call on these scripts/functions via the Matlab Engine API for Python.
Is this possible? How do I go about setting this up? Are there difficulties in doing it this way, and is there a better way?

You can do so, but you will be using a different approach from the matlab engine api, since you create your own package. Here you can find some info:
The computer using your package will need to install the matlab runtime. There are a few difficulties. You can't use your matlab classes properly in python for example.
