I have to build a gui to import a large excel file and user could select any columns to plot

the gui i want to bulit is having a axes ,a push button ,table and toolbar the user should import the excel data and he can select any column for plotting . i have a idea of directly importing and plotting ,but selecting columns from the table and then plotting i do not have any idea.
it would be a great if someone would will help me
