Is there a facility witin Matlab(r2014b), which would allow the user to see an entire image display(even using a sliding window)?

As a newcomer to Matlab, I'm having a difficult time analyzing intermediate steps of algorithms, that I am creating. The images I am working with are 1384x1036 16 bit unsigned images. The function, imshow, decimates the images being displayed, and consequently, the preciseness of the areas of interest is compromised.
