troubles in viewing variables in the Editor

when I step the cursor over variables in the Editor I don't see their values, whereas this options worked previously. I haven't idea what was changed? A lot of thanks,

Which MATLAB are you using, on which OS?

Do you happen to be using OS-X, and if so did you recently upgrade to Lion ?

Only works for variables that exist on the current workspace, run your code first and it works for the variables listed on the workspace window.

Most importantly, only in debugging mode ?!

Yes, it happens in debugging mode. I start the fuction which has bracking point(s) into from the Command Window
