Number of flops for finding the co-variance of matrix of size K*1

Can someone please tell me what is the number of flops ( floating point operations ) required to find the co-variance of matrix of size K*1? Please help me.

The best we can really do is talk about the computational complexity; see http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0045790683900290
Number of flops depends upon exact implementation. In turn that depends upon the size of the matrix; if it is sufficiently small then MATLAB would calculate it internally, but for larger matrices it would pass the data through an optimized mathematics library.
