serial number is too long for activation.

to activate my student edition, it is asking me to input the 20 digit serial code. i have the serial code, but mine is 25 digits not 20.

Is your number possibly for a different version? Back when PLP were used, their length was different.

I am having the same problem and I really need to use MATLAB asap. Why would the download be any different than what they provided me?

Trisha, what version are you attempting to activate, and what is the length of the license code you have been given? Were did you obtain the license code?

You should contact your university license office/manager or the Mathworks support. I already had license issues for toolboxes and they were happy to provide some evaluation license so I could use MATLAB while I was solving the problem with admin people.

Also, it's possible that you have two MATLAB accounts, e.g. one associated with your former organization/employer, and one associated with a new employer, e.g. a university. Then if you got a new license through the university, the license may be associated with an account based on your university email address.
