For the following signal : y(t)=cos (2π(500)t)+ sin (2π(500)t)+5 - Design and show the frequency response of a linear phase-response filter used to remove the DC component from the signal.

I think you can design a bandpass linear phase filter. You can use fir1 to do that.

The first example is a bandpass. HTH
