how do i activate my MATLAB software?

I have been given a copy of MATLAB by my university and i am trying to activate it on my home computer to be able to do work at home, but my copy didnt come with a serial number (or if it did its not on the packaging) what do i do?

Contact your IT department for instructions. If they can't help you, call MathWorks' installation support team.
