It should be noted that the author is requesting the float representation of hexadecimal numbers. Maybe a test case with pi should be added.

In particular, the problem asks for the IEEE 754 double precision format. I learned two things from this problem: (1) how to convert a number to the IEEE 754 format and (2) that MATLAB already has a function to do it.
