Distribution uniformity assessment

Dear community,

I have a monochromatic image, in which some (same kind) objects are distributed. Ideally they should distribute evenly. However, they could be clumped.

How do I quantify the uniformity of the distribution? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe you can use the Goodness of fit test against the uniform distribution

see Exemple 3 here: http://www.mathworks.fr/help/toolbox/stats/chi2gof.html

However, I don't know how this would work in 2D

Hi Laurie, Example 3 is for a Weibull distribution rather than a uniform distribution. Matlab's chi2gof does not have an option for uniform distributions
