How do I get Microsoft Windows SDK 7.1 to validate for Simulink Coder?

I can't get the toolchain to validate.
It shows up as an optional toolchain in Configuration Parameters > Code Generation > Build process in the dropdown menu, but will not validate even though it is installed.
Steps I've taken:
  • Installed Microsoft Windows SDK 7.1
  • Uninstalled all other compilers
  • Ran
mex -setup
which shows that Microsoft Windows SDK 7.1 is the default compiler

Which MATLAB version are you using? Which operating system?

Had to restart Matlab.
Dumb, but satisfying.
