Simulink very slow when changing configuration/block parameters

Hello all,
our university recently upgraded matlab to 2011a. However, I noticed some odd behavior in two cases:
1) after exiting the configuration parameter dialog box, it takes 4-5 seconds before I regain control over the simulink window. This happens even if the simulation is currently stopped.
2) if the simulation is running, and I want to change a block's value (say a constant value block), it takes the same amount of time before I can actually change the value, and again a few seconds after I apply the change before I can get back to the main simulink window. This does not happen if the simulation is not running.
This behaviour can be seen even with a very simple scheme with one matlab function, one scope and a constant value.
This was not the case with the previous version we were using (2006b).
I noticed this behavior under Win7 x64, and WinXp 32. However, the Linux version seems to run fine.
Is there anything that can be done to solve this issue?

No idea. It might be that the computer hardware is no matching for the new software anymore. I have a laptop. It runs R2007b Okay. But it takes more then a minute to start R2010b. Even exiting R2010b takes a long time. I can only wish I'll get a new computer soon.

I don't think it is hardware related. The same PC does not have that problem under Linux. Only under Windows I notice this behavior, which is pretty frustrating.
Moreover, the simulation seems to run faster w.r.t. 2006b, it is just this incredible lag when opening a constant block or editing simulation parameters

Hi, Just curious, have you guys been able to resolve this issue? I am facing similar problems and am using win7-64bit, Matlab 2011a. The bus-creator block is also so slow!
THanks,
