Reduces the number of data points in a data set to a specified number.

Syntax

[x1_new,...,xn_new] = reduce_data_points(x1,...,xn,N)

Description

[x1_new,...,xn_new] = reduce_data_points(x1,...,xn,N) reduces the number of data points to N, where the data points are stored in the vectors x1,...,xn, which together form a data set.

NOTE:

  • In some cases, the function will not be able to return exactly N data points due to rounding issues.
  • n refers to the dimension of a data point. For example, if a data point is an ordered triple , then n = 3.

Examples

See "EXAMPLES.mlx" or the "Examples" tab on the File Exchange page for examples.
