how can i change the xlim in bar?

The x values change from 1970 to 2006, the below figure is between data and the years. (for each year I have 5 bars).
I want to show all years or each two years (1970, 1973,1975,...) on the x axis . how can I do it?

You mean like this?
set(gca,'XTick',ceil(1970:2.5:2005))
