Recognition of brand and type of vehicle using image processing

In my final project I want to find brand and type of vehicle from an input image.I am new on image processing. thats way,I research so much but there are so many different way and I cant combine them all together.

I create an database which has 4 different car brands and tresholds of 4 different type model such as car truck...

I try corrlelation but it didnt works. so which way should I go?

It really depends on how standardized your images are. Are they all at the same angle of view and the same magnification? Like side view and filling the frame? Can you segment the car out from the background, or could there be lots of confounding background clutter?

Not sure. I guess find the front grille and try to identify the logo on it. If you have a library of logos, you can use nromxcorr2 to try to find it, like in the attached demo.
