How to avoid reversion of colorbar font size and style when saving a fig as an uncompressed tiff (and other image types)?

I generate image overlays with specific foreground colorbars. After nicely formatting the colorbar appearance (e.g., font, fontsize), I use the "save as" option from the file menu and choose uncompressed tiff as my output file. After doing so, the font size and style revert to default and then the tiff is saved. My output file is now saved using undesirable default font settings.
This happens for jpegs and other outputs as well. Saving as a .fig file, does not suffer this issue (but is not useful as an image file).
How do you maintain preferred font style and size for colorbars when saving figures as images?
Thanks

Looks like setting set(gcf,'InvertHardcopy','off') (or your version's equivalent) followed by saving the fig using the command line avoids this problem.
