Matlab installation on apple silicon coming up blank

I recently got a license for the 2026a prerelease through my university, but when I try to install it the installer comes up blank like this:

Any ideas?

HEY @Nancy Lindsey, please ensure that you have downloaded the “macOS (Apple Silicon)” .dmg, not the Intel version.

If the issue still persists, please contact the MathWorks support

There is no MacOS Intel version of the pre-release. The last version that supported Intel was R2025b.

If you try to run the pre-release launcher on MacOS Intel then you get told that the application cannot be opened.
