How to plot 2D field profiles with field vectors?

I want to plot like the first attached surface plot with field lines and arrows. I managed to plot the second image so far. Please help.

I tried quiver, but it gives discreet field lines, I am looking for continuous lines

contour or fcontour plots those lines but I don't believe it puts arrows. So you dould use that then create the arrows and place them afterwards.
