Written for undergraduate students in chemical and biological engineering, this book addresses the bifurcation characteristics of chemical and biological processes as the general case, and treats systems with a unique steady state as special cases. It uses a system approach, which is the most efficient for knowledge organization and transfer. Topics covered include modeling, system design, inital value problems, boundary value problems, and heterogeneous and multistage systems.
MATLAB is used throughout the book to solve many application examples. In addition, a supplemental set of MATLAB M-files is available on a CD bound in the book.
